adventures with the elderly

So here's my mentshing for the day. I went with my boyfriend to surprise his grandparents at the assisted living facility they live in. They were very surprised and so excited to have visitors... especially those being their grandson and his girlfriend. It put a special mark in their hearts to know that people care about them to where a girlfriend would be brought to meet them. His grandmother paraded us around proudly and introduced us to her friends in the assisted living facility with such a smile on her face I couldn't believe it. For elderly people it's like Christmas all over again when someone they do not expect to come spend the afternoon (or at least an hour or two) with them shows up and surprises them with flowers and candies and just joy and happiness to do something to make others feel splendid for maybe the greater part of the next week! It's good to make people happy, even if they are not necessarily your grandparents but those of someone who you care about a lot. When we left she seemed sad but we'll see her at a family BBQ soon. Good deeds, good deeds!
