...well the dapple daschund at petland that I was so up and willing to adopt before i heard how much she cost was $699 and at that point I decided it was better to walk away than pine about how much i wanted this dog and try to beg my way into owning this cutie pie.
But let's backtrack to how i did this 3 month old dapple daschund with both blue eyes (for those of you who are looking for such a puppy let me know and I'll tell you where she is) a good deed today... even though that sounds dorky about how could a person do a dog in a pet store a good deed, but anyway...
SOOOO after an interesting adventure in the mall today, boyfriend and i decided to head over to Borders and check out some books for mothers day and just to have. well right next door they have a petland and they were hiring (and if you hadn't gotten i'm a animal lover by now, as much as i tried to write about good deeds, good deeds for animals works too). so we go inside and check out whats going on and they have a whole bunch of puppies in the window for sale. Boyfriend was not pleased because he's all "they come from puppy mills bla bla bla" yet how can you prove it if the breeder is actually reputable?
ANYWAY! so while he was being a kvetch and moaning and groaning about "we cant have a dog right now bla bla bla" i went up to the clerk and asked if i could play with this puppy. Oh my goodness, this thing was SOOOOO happy to be out of her cage and running around and chasing this little toy ball they have in the play pens. For me, just to see the happiness on this puppy's face was just amazing. Maybe it's me that thinks it's a good deed done to play with a pup that might be kooked up in a cage all day, but for that dog to be out and playing with people and running, chasing, having a good time, thats a good deed in my eyes...
Even though i didn't get to keep her (unless someone wants to donate $699 for me to take her home, anyone?), i just felt good that i got this pup out of her cage and got her a good half hour of exercise before she had to go back to her cage and i still wanted to keep her, but i knew that was not a possibility. I'm sad that shes still there in petland and has no one to give her a home (or any of those puppies that did not get taken home today) but I know some loving family or person will go get them...
SPEAKING OF WHICH (while i have your mind tuned into adopting a puppy!) don't forget about being a mentsh yourself and go adopt a pup or kitten from your local animal shelter, cause i know i'm not the only animal mentshy person out there!
so thanks for reading and check back for my next installment! (and seriously... if you do wanna make a donation to The Mentsh wants this dapple daschund she saw at petland, I'll gladly accept them!) :D
